How much does TikTok pay, and how do you make money on TikTok?

TikTok doesn't publish a rate per view or per 1,000 views. Its Creator Rewards Program pays for qualified views of original videos longer than one minute, and only creators based in eight countries can join.1 This guide covers what the program asks for, what decides the amount, and the other ways to make money on TikTok when the program isn't open to you.

What is said: Mismo video, otro idioma. Así llego a personas que no hablan español sin grabar de nuevo.

What is said: Same video, different language. This way I reach people who don't speak Spanish without recording again.

What is said: Mesmo vídeo, outro idioma. Assim chego a pessoas que não falam espanhol sem gravar de novo.

Demo clip: an AI-generated scene with a fictional character. Dubbed with VDub v2, the model DubSync runs; lip-synced tracks use VSync v2.

Lip-sync shown in these examples is an optional paid add-on, separate from the dubbing trial.

Does TikTok pay per view?

Not at a fixed rate. The Creator Rewards Program is what TikTok's Creativity Program became when it left beta on March 18, 2024. The announcement lists four metrics behind a reward (originality, play duration, search value and audience engagement) and gives no amount.6 What the program pages describe instead is a figure of your own: RPM, the average gross revenue per 1,000 qualified views.2

RPM is a result, not a price list. Two videos with similar view counts can end with different RPMs, and TikTok says the audience mix may help explain why.3

The program is also not the older Creator Fund. TikTok's FAQ lists the differences: videos must be at least one minute long, the incentives for qualified views are higher and the dashboard shows more data. It still names no rate.7

When the program opened in Mexico in October 2025, TikTok's head of operations for Latin America told Bloomberg Línea that it is not a revenue-share program in which any video brings in money, and that the creator with the most followers won't necessarily collect the most.8

Creator Rewards Program requirements

You can apply when the account meets all of these.14

Minimum age
18
19 in South Korea.
Followers
10,000
On a personal account.
Video views
100,000
In the last 30 days.
Countries
8
You must be based in one of them.
  • A personal, public account. Business accounts and accounts tied to political or government organizations don't qualify.1 After a switch from a business account to a personal one, TikTok says you can apply after 30 days.9
  • An account in good standing: it follows the Community Guidelines and the Terms of Service, with no tampering with the program and no fraudulent activity.1
  • Real account details. TikTok takes your age from the birthdate on the account and may ask you to confirm it with a government-issued ID.47

To apply, open your profile, tap the menu, choose TikTok Studio and then Creator Rewards Program. TikTok says to expect an answer within about three days.14

TikTok keeps reviewing accounts after they join. Five video violations in 30 days make an account ineligible, and five account violations make it permanently ineligible.9 When a video fails review or is removed later, the rewards it collected are deducted from your balance.4

You can appeal. For a decision about an account, the Creator Academy and the Support page both give 30 days. For a video, the Creator Academy gives 80 days and the Support page 30, so treat 30 as the deadline.94

TikTok Creator Rewards Program countries

The program is open to creators in eight countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Mexico and Brazil. You have to be based in one of them and have an account registered there.1

Mexico is the most recent addition. Bloomberg Línea reported its launch on October 1, 2025, and noted that Brazil and Mexico were the only Latin American countries with the program.8 We found no announced schedule for other countries, so we won't guess at one.

Which videos and which views count

Once the account is in, rewards are counted video by video and view by view.14

Counts toward rewards

  • An original video longer than one minute, uploaded after you joined the program.
  • A video that reaches at least 1,000 views on the For You feed.
  • A view watched for at least five seconds.
  • A view that came from Search, when it lasted at least 30 seconds.
  • A view from one of the eight program countries.

Doesn't count

  • Duets, Stitches and videos made in Photo Mode.
  • Ads, paid promotions, sponsored content and videos linked to a Series.
  • Repeat views from the same account, which count once.
  • Views with a not-interested tap, and paid or fraudulent views.
  • Views from any country outside the eight.

The last line is easy to overlook. A creator in Brazil whose video is watched mostly in Portugal, or a creator in the United Kingdom with a large audience in Australia, collects rewards only for the viewers inside the eight countries.1

Original has a narrow meaning here. TikTok's Support page defines it as content you designed, filmed and produced yourself, and it rules out other people's videos with only slight changes and videos where copyrighted music plays for more than a minute.4 The program also leaves out what TikTok considers low quality: split screens, empty reactions and slide videos.1

What decides how much a video pays

Your total is the sum of two parts.2

  • Standard Reward

The base payout, calculated from qualified views. TikTok says it depends on audience metrics such as the regions your viewers come from and the language of your content.2

  • Additional Reward

A bonus tied to quality. It moves with watch time, retention rate, completion rate and search value, and TikTok asks for well-crafted, engaging, specialized videos in 1080p or higher.21

TikTok also describes a factor it calls audience commercial value: some payouts reflect what your audience is worth to advertisers. It names two common drivers: audience age, and language and local relevance. It adds that stronger results with higher-value audiences won't come with every video.3

What TikTok doesn't publish is what a view is worth in each country. One public reference comes from another platform: what advertisers paid per 1,000 YouTube ad impressions in the same eight countries. In that data, for videos uploaded in 2024, the median rate in the United States was ~7× the rate in Mexico and ~9× the rate in Brazil.10

What advertisers paid per 1,000 YouTube ad impressionsMedian CPM in US dollars, long videos uploaded in 2024.
  1. United States$11.95
  2. United Kingdom$7.60
  3. Germany$6.43
  4. France$4.54
  5. Japan$3.41
  6. South Korea$2.91
  7. Mexico$1.64
  8. Brazil$1.33

This is YouTube data, not TikTok data, and CPM is what advertisers pay, not what a creator receives. It shows how far apart ad markets can be. It doesn't tell you what TikTok pays in any of these countries.

Other ways to make money on TikTok

The Creator Rewards Program is one of several programs in TikTok's own overview, each with its own requirements, and TikTok Studio shows which ones your account can use.5 Joining it doesn't rule out brand work: TikTok's FAQ says its members can still take projects through TikTok One.7

  • Brand projects in TikTok One

    • 18 or older
    • Supported region
    • From 1,000 followers

Brands invite creators to projects, or creators apply to open ones. A branded post goes on the brand's account. A sponsored post goes on yours, tagged as sponsored. The two have different region lists.11

  • TikTok Shop

    • Over 18
    • Videos and LIVE

You show products in videos and LIVE sessions, viewers buy inside the app, and you collect affiliate earnings on what sells through your account.5

  • Subscription

    • Monthly fee you set
    • Subscriber-only videos

Subscribers pay monthly for badges, exclusive videos and perks. TikTok says creators receive 70% of the revenue after app store fees, with a bonus for accounts that meet extra conditions.12

  • LIVE gifts and video gifts

    • Sent by viewers
    • Awarded as Diamonds

Viewers send gifts during a LIVE or on an eligible video. TikTok awards Diamonds for them, and for LIVE it bases the award on how popular the session is.5

  • Music and effect campaigns

    • Work With Artists
    • Effect House

Work With Artists rewards videos made for campaigns around new songs, and Effect House has its own rewards for people who build effects.5

  • The same video elsewhere

    • Outside TikTok
    • Your own file

A video you made can go on other platforms too, as long as everything in it, music included, is yours to use there. Each platform has its own programs and rules, and our YouTube guide covers that side.

    Make money on YouTube

These pages don't tie their programs to the Creator Rewards country list, and TikTok One has region lists of its own.11 We found no single official table of where each one is available, so check TikTok Studio before you plan around one. Our sponsorship guide is written for YouTube, and it explains what a sponsor is buying.

What a second language changes, and what it doesn't

Eight program countries, seven languages

Between them, the eight countries speak English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Japanese and Korean. Only views from those countries qualify, and TikTok says the Standard Reward depends partly on viewers' regions and the language of the content.2

For an account that is already eligible, our reading is modest: viewers there who would skip the original can follow a version in their own language. TikTok's advice is about videos that feel natural in a local language, which it ties to cultural references and style, and a dub doesn't change those.3 Whether TikTok shows a dubbed version to anyone is up to its recommendation system.

The clip is an AI-generated scene with a fictional presenter speaking English. Pick another language under it to hear the same line dubbed.

EnglishOriginal

What is said: I recorded this video once in English. Pick a language and hear the same video in a voice like mine.

Demo clip: an AI-generated scene with a fictional character. Dubbed with VDub v2, the model DubSync runs; lip-synced tracks use VSync v2.

A second language can change

  • The language viewers hear, in a voice created from each speaker's own.
  • Who can follow the video without reading captions.
  • Which countries your views come from, if the new version finds an audience.

It doesn't change

  • Whether your account is eligible: that depends on where you are based.
  • The follower and view thresholds.
  • The rule that videos must be original and longer than one minute.
  • On-screen text, captions and hashtags: a dub changes the audio only.

DubSync makes the file, and you post it yourself. If you open a separate account for the language, it has to meet the thresholds on its own.1 You upload the original video (MP4, MOV or M4V, up to 150 minutes and 1 GB), choose one of 28 languages and download a dubbed MP4 with a voice created from each speaker, the background audio kept and no visible watermark. The voice is similar to the speaker's, not identical, and there is no script editing, so listen to the result before you post. Dubbing is paid per input minute, and you see the minutes and the cost before you confirm. The TikTok video translator page has the details.

Don't count on a dubbed copy collecting rewards. The program rewards original videos uploaded after you joined.4 TikTok's originality policy treats as unoriginal any content copied from others, largely repurposed from another source without creative edits, or carrying someone else's watermark.13 Neither page says how TikTok treats your own video posted again in a second language. Translate the caption and the on-screen text yourself so the post stands on its own.

Turn on TikTok's AI-generated label for the dub. TikTok asks for it when AI audio mimics the voice of a real person, and as we read it, a voice created from your own falls under that wording. TikTok says the label doesn't affect how a video is distributed, as long as the video follows the Community Guidelines.14

Questions before you start

How much does TikTok pay per 1,000 views?

There is no official figure. TikTok gives each creator an RPM of their own, the average gross revenue per 1,000 qualified views, and it differs from video to video.23 Numbers quoted online are other creators' results, not a rate TikTok pays.

How much does TikTok pay for 1 million views?

There is no fixed amount for any view count. Rewards are worked out from qualified views and your RPM, not from the total shown on the video.4 A million views can include many that don't qualify: views from outside the eight countries, repeat views from one account and views shorter than five seconds.1

How many followers do you need to get paid on TikTok?

For the Creator Rewards Program: 10,000 followers and 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, on a personal account of someone 18 or older (19 in South Korea) who is based in one of the eight countries.14 Brand projects in TikTok One start from 1,000 followers.11

Which countries have the TikTok Creator Rewards Program?

The United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, South Korea, France, Mexico and Brazil. You must be based in one of them and have an account registered there.1

Do videos under one minute make money on TikTok?

Not through the Creator Rewards Program, which rewards only original videos longer than one minute.1 The other programs on this page have their own rules.

If I post in English, can I join from a country outside the program?

No. TikTok's requirement is to be based in one of the eight countries with an account registered there, and it sets no condition on the language of the videos.1 English can change who watches. It can't change whether the account qualifies.

When does TikTok pay, and are rewards taxed?

Estimated rewards appear in the Creator Rewards dashboard, usually within three days of posting. TikTok says you can redeem them on the 15th of each month once they reach $50 and your payment and tax details are complete.7 Withdrawals go to PayPal, Pix or a bank account and are typically processed within 72 hours, though TikTok doesn't promise that for every request. Rewards may be taxable, and meeting local tax rules is the creator's responsibility.1

Can I post a dubbed version of my own TikTok video?

Yes, when the video is yours and everyone who speaks in it agreed. DubSync returns an MP4 and you post it yourself. TikTok asks for its AI-generated label when AI audio mimics a real person's voice, and we read a dubbed voice as that case, so turn the label on.14 TikTok's pages don't say whether a dubbed copy of a video you already posted can collect rewards, so don't count on it.13
