An animated character

  • The character keeps its bright, young voice in Finnish.
  • Music and forest sounds stay under the new speech.
  • Stylized mouths rarely need lip-sync, so a plain dub is usually enough for animation.

Narration over footage

A narrator never shows their lips, so nothing has to match on screen. This is the simplest kind of video to dub into Finnish: the voice changes and the picture stays exactly as you cut it.

Who you reach

Where a Finnish version can be watched.

Finnish is the main language of Finland, where Swedish is also official. It is not related to the Scandinavian languages around it, so for a creator a Finnish version is the direct way to speak to viewers there in their own language.

CPM is what advertisers pay, not what a creator earns. Pay depends on where viewers watch, the niche and YouTube Partner Program eligibility. No result is guaranteed.

Before you publish

What to check in a Finnish dub.

A dub can't be corrected word by word, so listen to the result before you post it, ideally with a native speaker.

  • Written or spoken Finnish

Standard Finnish, the language of news and print, is quite different from the Finnish people speak, which shortens words and endings. Listen for whether a casual video has turned into something that sounds read aloud.

  • Long words, faster speech

Finnish packs meaning into endings and compounds, so its words run long. If the dub sounds rushed in places, the Finnish sentence probably needed more time than your original gave it.

  • Hän for he and she

Finnish uses "hän" for he and for she alike. When your video talks about several people, check that it is still clear who is meant.

Questions

Questions before you start

Which languages can I translate into Finnish from?

You don't choose a source language: the spoken language is detected automatically. You choose Finnish as the language to dub into.

Will the Finnish voice sound like the original speaker?

Each voice is created from the original speaker, so it should sound similar, not identical. Clear speech with little background noise gives the best result.

Which variety of Finnish does the dub use?

There is one Finnish option, with no regional variants to choose from. If a regional audience matters to you, ask a native speaker from that region to listen before you publish.

Can I get Finnish subtitles instead of a dub?

No. DubSync makes a dubbed MP4, not a subtitle file.

How long can the video be?

Up to 150 minutes and 1 GB per file, as an MP4, MOV or M4V.

How is a Finnish dub priced?

By the input minute: the length of your original video, for each target language. You upload first and see the minutes and the cost before anything starts.
