Your estimate

Optional. We value these at the US rate, so count only views from US viewers: English is also watched in countries where advertisers pay less. Leave it empty if you don't know; we never assume extra views.

Advertisers paid ~7× more per 1,000 ad impressions in the US than in Mexico.

Median CPM, long videos uploaded in 2024. IsThisChannelMonetized via Digital Information World, Aug 2025.

Same views from viewers in Mexico
$30–55 a month
Same views from viewers in the United States
$230–400 a month

Assumes 35–60% of views show an ad and YouTube's 55% creator share of ad revenue.

Illustrative ranges, not a forecast. Ad rates are not your income. The US row shows the gap in ad rates between countries, not what an English version earns.

Ad revenue also requires the YouTube Partner Program to be available where you live.

How to read the result

  • The headline compares what advertisers paid per 1,000 ad impressions (CPM) on long videos in the US and in your viewers' market, inside one dataset.1 For Shorts it compares a creator's revenue per 1,000 Shorts views, from a second source.4
  • The ranges estimate a creator's share of ad revenue for the same views. They're wide on purpose: nobody outside YouTube knows how many of your views show an ad.
  • The second row values the same views at the US rate from the same source, so it differs from the first by the multiple in the headline. It shows the gap in ad rates between countries, not where an English version would be watched.
  • Extra views are yours to enter. We value them at the US rate, so enter only the views you expect from viewers in the United States. We don't assume an English version brings any.

Methodology

How we calculate

Data checked Oct 3, 2026.

  • Ad rates: median long-video CPM for videos uploaded in 2024 in 49 countries, compiled by IsThisChannelMonetized and published by Digital Information World. CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions, before YouTube's share. It is not a creator's income.
  • Creator share: YouTube Partner Program creators receive 55% of net revenue from ads on their watch pages (YouTube Help).
  • Views with ads: we assume 35–60% of long-video views show at least one ad. YouTube doesn't publish this figure. It is our assumption, and the main reason every result is a range.
  • US comparison: in the calculator and the examples, the second row values the same views at the US rate from the same source, so the two rows differ by the US multiple shown with them (the long-video CPM multiple, or the Shorts multiple for Shorts). It compares ad rates between countries. It does not predict where an English version is watched: English is also watched in countries where advertisers pay less, such as India and the Philippines.
  • Shorts: creator revenue per 1,000 Shorts views from a single source (AIR Media-Tech, 2025 data), shown with a ±25% band. Creators keep 45% of their allocated Shorts ad revenue (YouTube Help).
  • Argentina: only a US multiple from a different source (AIR Media-Tech, 2025), never mixed with the long-video figures.
  • Viewer geography: ads are not served to viewers in Russia. Our datasets provide no viewer-country rate for Belarus; we do not estimate zero income. Creator residence and AdSense payment eligibility are separate.
  • Not a forecast. Niche, audience location, retention and YouTube Partner Program eligibility decide what a channel earns.

Questions

About these numbers

Is this what I'll earn?

No. It's an illustrative range built from public median ad rates and our stated assumptions. Your niche, audience location, retention and YouTube Partner Program eligibility decide what a channel earns.

Why is the comparison with the United States?

Because the multiple in the headline is the US rate against your market's rate, and the second row applies that same US rate to the same views. The two rows therefore differ by that multiple; for Shorts it is the Shorts multiple, from the Shorts source. It is a comparison of ad rates between countries, not a forecast: English is also watched in countries where advertisers pay less, such as India and the Philippines, so an English version does not turn your views into US views.

Why is there no Shorts figure for some countries?

Our Shorts figures come from one source, which doesn't cover every market (for example Spain, Portugal and Argentina). We show long videos there instead of mixing in another dataset.

Why are there no numbers for Russia or Belarus?

These are different cases. YouTube has paused ads to viewers in Russia. Our datasets have no viewer-country rate for Belarus, so we show unavailable data, not a zero rate. Restrictions on Belarus-based creator AdSense accounts are a separate eligibility issue.

Why isn't my country listed?

We only show countries the long-video dataset covers, so every comparison stays within one source. Pick the closest market, or see the full table.
