CPM is not RPM
CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions, before YouTube takes its share. RPM is what a creator receives per 1,000 views, after YouTube's share and including the views that showed no ad. No platform publishes either by country, so this page reports CPM from one creator dataset and estimates RPM as a range.
The estimate multiplies each CPM by YouTube's 55% creator share for long videos2 and by our assumption that 35–60% of views show an ad. Treat it as an order of magnitude, not a payout.

CPM: IsThisChannelMonetized via Digital Information World, Aug 2025.1 “US is” divides the US CPM by each country's, inside that dataset. Estimated RPM per 1,000 long-video views is CPM × 55% × 35–60%, our assumption. Shorts RPM per 1,000 Shorts views is from one source, AIR Media-Tech (Jan 2026), already after YouTube's share.4
- Argentina isn't in the long-video dataset. A different source puts US CPM at ~13× Argentina's; we don't mix it with the table.6
- Russia: YouTube stopped showing ads to viewers in Russia in March 2022 and closed Russia-based AdSense accounts in August 2024.7
- Belarus: Our datasets have no rate for viewers in Belarus, which does not mean a zero rate. The closure of Belarus-based AdSense accounts in December 2024 concerns creator eligibility, a separate issue.8
Where viewers watch sets the price
YouTube says CPMs vary by geography: advertisers bid for viewers in particular countries.9 Shorts work the same way: ad revenue is shared according to the country of each engaged view.5 What matters most is where each view comes from, not where the creator lives.
That is why a translated version helps only as far as it reaches viewers in higher-paying countries.
What this means for an English version
The US, UK, Canada and Australia add up to about 360 million people YouTube ads can reach.3 For a creator who speaks Spanish or Portuguese, English is the most direct way to be found by them.
English also reaches India and the Philippines, where advertisers paid less than in Mexico or Brazil.1 The mix of viewers, not the language itself, decides the result.
US advertisers paid ~9× as much per 1,000 ad impressions as advertisers in Brazil, and ~12× as much as in India.1
CPM is what advertisers pay, not what a creator earns. Pay depends on where viewers watch, the niche and YouTube Partner Program eligibility. No result is guaranteed.
- An English audio track on the same video.
- A separate English channel.
- The English MP4 on TikTok, Reels, Facebook or your site.
Methodology
How we calculate
Data checked Oct 3, 2026.
- Ad rates: median long-video CPM for videos uploaded in 2024 in 49 countries, compiled by IsThisChannelMonetized and published by Digital Information World. CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions, before YouTube's share. It is not a creator's income.
- Creator share: YouTube Partner Program creators receive 55% of net revenue from ads on their watch pages (YouTube Help).
- Views with ads: we assume 35–60% of long-video views show at least one ad. YouTube doesn't publish this figure. It is our assumption, and the main reason every result is a range.
- US comparison: in the calculator and the examples, the second row values the same views at the US rate from the same source, so the two rows differ by the US multiple shown with them (the long-video CPM multiple, or the Shorts multiple for Shorts). It compares ad rates between countries. It does not predict where an English version is watched: English is also watched in countries where advertisers pay less, such as India and the Philippines.
- Shorts: creator revenue per 1,000 Shorts views from a single source (AIR Media-Tech, 2025 data), shown with a ±25% band. Creators keep 45% of their allocated Shorts ad revenue (YouTube Help).
- Argentina: only a US multiple from a different source (AIR Media-Tech, 2025), never mixed with the long-video figures.
- Viewer geography: ads are not served to viewers in Russia. Our datasets provide no viewer-country rate for Belarus; we do not estimate zero income. Creator residence and AdSense payment eligibility are separate.
- Not a forecast. Niche, audience location, retention and YouTube Partner Program eligibility decide what a channel earns.

Put one video in front of English-speaking viewers.
Dub it into English with a voice for each speaker, then publish it where you like.
