YouTube dubbing · AI video translator
YouTube video translator for the videos you made yourself.
Translate a YouTube video from your own channel into one of 28 languages. Upload the original file, not a link. DubSync translates the speech, gives each speaker a voice created from their own and returns a dubbed MP4. Add its audio to the same video as an extra track, or post the MP4 on a channel for that language.

What do you mean by translating a YouTube video?
People search for this with three different jobs in mind. DubSync does one of them.
You want to understand a video
You don't need a dubbing tool. Turn on captions, or look for another audio track in the player: YouTube adds automatic dubs to videos from eligible creators, and viewers can switch between the original and the dub.1
You made the video and want new viewers
This is the job DubSync does. You upload your own file and get the same video back, speaking another language.
You want to repost someone else's video
Not here, unless the owner gave you the rights and the speakers agreed. A dub of another person's video is still their video. To monetize content you didn't create, YouTube requires written permission from the rights holder that covers commercial use.2
From file to dub
Start from your original file, not from the YouTube link.
Find the original export
DubSync has no link import, so you need the file itself. The export you once uploaded to YouTube is the best source. If it is gone, YouTube Studio lets you download your own upload as an MP4, in 720p or 360p depending on the video's size.3 That file works too.
Upload it and pick the language
MP4, MOV or M4V, up to 150 minutes and 1 GB. The spoken language is detected automatically. You only choose the language the video goes into: one of 28, one per project.
See the minutes, then confirm
You see how many input minutes the video uses and what that costs. The dub starts only after you confirm the price, your rights to the video and every speaker's consent.
Download the MP4 and watch all of it
Each speaker gets a voice created from their own: similar, not identical. Background audio is kept, and there is no visible watermark. There is no script editing, so watch the whole result before it goes on your channel, ideally with someone who speaks the language.
Publishing
Two ways to put the dub on YouTube.
DubSync gives you the file, and you publish it yourself in YouTube Studio. YouTube documents both routes: audio tracks on one video,4 and a separate channel for each language.5
An extra audio track on the same video
- One video, one view count
- Needs advanced features
- Audio-only file
Multi-language audio adds your dub to a video or Short you already published, and viewers switch language in the player. YouTube asks for an audio-only file about as long as the video, so export the audio from your dubbed MP4 in any editor first.4
Your channel needs access to advanced features,4 which come with phone verification and then enough channel history or an ID or video check.6
Multi-language audio guideA separate channel for that language
- Its own subscribers
- Upload the MP4 as it is
- Starts from zero
You post the dubbed MP4 as a normal upload on a channel made for that audience, with titles, thumbnails and comments in one language. YouTube names the cost: each channel needs ongoing attention and a regular upload schedule.5
If YouTube can't tell that the content is yours, its reused content policy may apply, and reviewers may read the channel description.7 Say there that this is your official channel in that language, and link the two channels.
Multi-language YouTube channel
YouTube reported that creators who uploaded multi-language audio tracks saw, on average, over 25% of their watch time come from views in the video's non-primary language.8 That is an average, not a forecast for your channel. YouTube advises depth: one or two languages, and as much of your catalog as you can dub. YouTube Analytics then shows views and watch time by audio language.4
YouTube dubbing, compared
YouTube already dubs videos for free. What is different here?
Automatic dubbing is on by default for eligible creators and adds dubbed audio tracks to their videos.1 If the result sounds right to you, keep it and spend nothing.
| YouTube automatic dubbing | DubSync | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Built into YouTube Studio; YouTube Help lists no fee1 | Paid per input minute; you see the cost before the dub starts |
| Language pairs | A published list of pairs: English into a set of languages, most other languages into English only1 | Into any of 28 target languages; the spoken language is detected |
| Voice | A generated voice. In some languages, expressive speech can follow the original pitch and intonation1 | A voice created from each original speaker: similar, not identical |
| What you get | Audio tracks on that YouTube video, marked as auto-dubbed in its description1 | A dubbed MP4 you download, for an audio track, another channel or another platform |
| Checking it | Preview, publish, unpublish or delete each dub in Studio, with optional review before dubs go live. Automatic dubs can't be edited1 | You watch the MP4 before anything is public. There is no script editing. |
| Video length | Videos over 120 minutes are not dubbed1 | Up to 150 minutes and 1 GB per file |
| Lip-sync | Experimental, with early access for select channels1 | Not part of a dub. An optional paid add-on for a finished dub of up to 5 minutes, priced per minute |
Into English
Translate a YouTube video to English.
Choose English as the target language. You don't select the language you recorded in: DubSync detects it.
A Portuguese demo clip, dubbed into English
The scene was made in Portuguese, and the other buttons play it dubbed. Listen for what stays: the background sound and a voice close to the speaker's own. Tracks the player marks as lip-synced also use the optional paid lip-sync add-on. A dub without it changes only the audio.
A common reason to add English is what advertisers pay. For videos uploaded in 2024, advertisers paid ~9× as much per 1,000 YouTube ad impressions for viewers in the United States as for viewers in Brazil, and ~7× as much as for viewers in Mexico.10 Those are median advertiser prices, not a creator's income, and an English track does not bring US viewers by itself.
- YouTube picks the default audio track from the viewer's preferred language, which it works out from watch history.4
- Start with videos whose topic matters outside your country, and give them English titles and descriptions.
- Compare ad rates by country, or put your own views into the calculator.

Fit check
Which YouTube videos dub well, and which need care.
Works well
- Tutorials, explainers, reviews and gaming commentary with one clear voice, recorded close to the microphone.
- Interviews and video podcasts where people take turns, once every speaker has agreed to the dub.
- Shorts: multi-language audio works on Shorts as well as on long videos.4
Take care
- Music videos and songs. Speech dubbing isn't made for singing, and YouTube's automatic dubbing leaves music-only videos out too.1
- Recordings over 150 minutes or 1 GB, such as full streams: cut them into parts first.
- Wordplay, heavy slang and people talking over each other: ask a native speaker to check.
Before you upload
Your channel, your videos, your voice.
YouTube lists cloning your own voice for voice-overs or dubs among the AI uses creators don't need to disclose. That example covers your own voice, not a guest's.11 Separately, YouTube's reused content policy applies even when the original creator gave permission, so permission alone does not settle whether a channel of re-voiced videos can be monetized.7 More in can you monetize dubbed videos.
Questions
Questions before you start
Can I paste a YouTube link to translate a video?
No. DubSync works from a video file: MP4, MOV or M4V. Use the original export of your own video. If you no longer have it, YouTube Studio lets you download a video you uploaded as an MP4, and that file works too.3
Can I translate someone else's YouTube video?
Not to repost it, unless the owner gave you the rights and the people who speak in it agreed. YouTube lets you monetize content someone else made only with the rights holder's written permission for commercial use,2 and in DubSync you confirm your rights and every speaker's consent before each dub. To watch a video in your language, you don't need DubSync: use captions, or the dubbed audio track if the video has one.
Does DubSync upload the dubbed video to YouTube?
No. DubSync doesn't publish to YouTube or to any other platform. You download the MP4 and publish it yourself in YouTube Studio: its audio as an extra track, or the file as a new upload.
How do I add the dub to a video that is already on YouTube?
In YouTube Studio on a computer, open Languages, choose the video, click Add language and add your file next to Dub. Your channel needs access to advanced features, and YouTube accepts an audio-only file about as long as the video, so export the audio from your dubbed MP4 first.4
Do I have to label an AI dub on YouTube?
Not for your own voice: YouTube lists cloning your own voice for voice-overs or dubs among the things creators don't have to disclose. Realistic content that makes a real person appear to say something they didn't say has to be disclosed.11 If other people speak in your video, get their consent and read the rule before you upload.
Does it translate titles, descriptions or subtitles?
No. A dub changes the spoken audio only. DubSync makes no subtitle files and writes no titles. Add translated titles and descriptions in YouTube Studio,9 and use YouTube's own captions for subtitles.
What does it cost to translate a YouTube video?
DubSync is paid, and there is no free plan. You pay per input minute, which is the length of your original video, for each target language. A second language is a second project and uses the minutes again. You see the cost before the dub starts.
