An animated character

  • The character keeps its bright, young voice in Korean.
  • Music and forest sounds stay under the new speech.
  • Stylized mouths rarely need lip-sync, so a plain dub is usually enough for animation.

Narration over footage

A narrator never shows their lips, so nothing has to match on screen. This is the simplest kind of video to dub into Korean: the voice changes and the picture stays exactly as you cut it.

Who you reach

Where a Korean version can be watched.

Korean is the language of the Korean peninsula, with Korean communities in the United States, China and Japan. Online, a Korean version is watched mainly in South Korea and by Koreans abroad, so for a creator it is aimed at a single, closely connected audience.

CPM is what advertisers pay, not what a creator earns. Pay depends on where viewers watch, the niche and YouTube Partner Program eligibility. No result is guaranteed.

Before you publish

What to check in a Korean dub.

A dub can't be corrected word by word, so listen to the result before you post it, ideally with a native speaker.

  • Jondaetmal or banmal

Korean verb endings mark the speech level: polite jondaetmal for strangers and viewers, casual banmal for close friends. Banmal to an audience can sound rude, so check which level the dub uses.

  • Native or Sino-Korean numbers

Korean has native number words and Chinese-derived ones, and each set has its own uses: hours are counted with the native words and minutes with the Chinese-derived ones. Listen to every time, age, count and price.

  • Titles instead of you

Koreans rarely say "you" to someone they respect and use a name or a title instead, often with the honorific "nim" attached. Listen for how the dub addresses your viewers and the people you mention.

Questions

Questions before you start

Which languages can I translate into Korean from?

You don't choose a source language: the spoken language is detected automatically. You choose Korean as the language to dub into.

Will the Korean voice sound like the original speaker?

Each voice is created from the original speaker, so it should sound similar, not identical. Clear speech with little background noise gives the best result.

Which variety of Korean does the dub use?

There is one Korean option, with no regional variants to choose from. If a regional audience matters to you, ask a native speaker from that region to listen before you publish.

Can I get Korean subtitles instead of a dub?

No. DubSync makes a dubbed MP4, not a subtitle file.

How long can the video be?

Up to 150 minutes and 1 GB per file, as an MP4, MOV or M4V.

How is a Korean dub priced?

By the input minute: the length of your original video, for each target language. You upload first and see the minutes and the cost before anything starts.
